Job summary

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in the Washington, DC Metro Area seeks a Chief Content & Experience Officer to lead Membership, Content & Publications, Professional Development, and Conferences & Events, reporting to the CEO and serving on the Executive Team.

You will set the vision for how NAEYC delivers value, deepens relationships, and serves its member and field community, building a comprehensive ecosystem for educators and leaders that advances high-quality

Qualifications

• 12-15 years of progressive leadership spanning content and publishing, professional learning, events, and member engagement.
• At least 5 years in a senior executive capacity with significant P&L responsibility.
• Proven track record building and scaling learning programs, membership, conferences, and content portfolios in a mission-driven organization.
• Experience generating and growing revenue through events, publications, digital learning, and/or membership programs.
• Deep expertise in adult learning and competency-based design for educator growth.
• Familiarity with the early childhood education field preferred; nonprofit/membership experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic vision for an integrated portfolio of Membership, Content & Publications, Professional Development, and Conferences & Events.
• Grow professional development into a significant revenue stream and learning ecosystem for educators and leaders.
• Lead evolution of conference strategy to deepen field engagement.
• Oversee editorial vision and operations of publishing portfolio (books, journals, digital content).
• Provide strategic oversight of membership functions and value proposition.
• Collaborate with Executive Team to align priorities with the mission.
