Job description

Title: Chief Commercial Officer

HQ: Dallas, TX

Location: United States (Remote/Hybrid) | 30-40% travel

Workplace type: Hybrid

About the Company

Our client is a private equity-backed, acquisition-driven business services platform built only for the commercial construction trades. The company gives HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and specialty contractors outsourced preconstruction, estimating, BIM/VDC design, test and balance, and back-office support. It has scaled through add-on acquisitions and organic expansion, and several thousand contractors use its services. The next step is joining those businesses into one brand and one commercial engine.

Overview

The Chief Commercial Officer owns all revenue and reports to the CEO. This leader will work closely with the CEO, CFO and PE Leadership to carry out the value creation plan. The role takes a group of strong regional businesses and builds them into a single sales organization. That organization will sell the full range of services to every customer, win national accounts, and grow well faster than the market.

Lead Responsibilities
  • Commercial strategy across HVAC, MEP and specialty trade segments
  • Leading and scaling Sales, Account Management, Marketing and Commercial Ops
  • Cross-sell: moving single-service customers to multi-service relationships
  • Building a national accounts program for the largest mechanical and electrical contractors
  • Pricing strategy, margin improvement, and a shift toward recurring revenue models
  • CRM, pipeline, forecasting and the KPIs the executive team and board run on
  • One brand and market position across acquired businesses, plus trade association presence (MCAA, SMACNA, NECA, ACCA, PHCC)
  • Commercial diligence on add-on acquisitions and go-to-market integration after close
Desired Skills and Experience
  • 15+ years of commercial leadership, with 5+ years as the top sales or commercial executive (CCO, CRO, SVP Sales) of a $75M-$500M business
  • Experience working to a value creation plan and reporting to a board
  • Direct experience selling to HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing or specialty contractors
  • Background in business services, engineering/design services, construction tech, building products, or distribution to contractors
  • A track record of building a commercial organization from the ground up, not inheriting one, ideally across buy-and-build or multi-site environments
  • Proven results with cross-sell and key account programs
  • Strong command of pricing and commercial analytics, credible with a CFO and board
  • Bachelor’s required; MBA or engineering degree preferred

Compensation: Competitive base, annual bonus, and meaningful equity participation.
