Job summary

The City of Johns Creek is seeking a Chief Building Official to lead the Building Division, oversee plan reviews, permitting, and inspections, and balance regulatory compliance with customer service.

You will supervise staff, manage the division's budget, and represent the city with builders and the public while advancing modern permitting operations. Base salary ranges from $104,838 to $119,377, DOQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in construction building inspection, building design, plan review, structural engineering, or closely related field, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and supervise the Building Division, coordinating plan review, permit issuance, and inspection services.
• Apply and enforce State and City building regulations and review inspection reports.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Building Division staff.
• Investigate and maintain records for Stop Work Orders and Notices of Violation.
