Job summary

The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland invites applications for a senior leader to head the Bioethics Consultation Service in the Department of Bioethics. The role combines clinical ethics oversight with independent bioethics research and education across the NIH intramural community.

Qualifications

• The department seeks candidates with leadership in bioethics and strong ethics consultation experience.
• Experience conducting bioethics research and mentoring fellows is preferred.
• Clinical/biomedical ethics knowledge relevant to NIH intramural research ideal.
• Familiarity with education and outreach in bioethics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the NIH Clinical Center Bioethics Consultation Service, overseeing clinical and research ethics consultations, scheduling, operations, and service quality.
• Conduct independent bioethics research, serving as PI or collaborator, from conception to publication.
• Mentor and educate bioethics fellows through training, mentorship, teaching, and supervision.
• Advance NIH bioethics education and outreach by teaching courses, co-leading groups, and supporting recruitment.
