Confidential, based in New York, seeks a VP of Audience Engagement to lead growth and engagement across its digital media brands. The role oversees a hands-on team, partners with editorial and cross-functional teams, and drives direct traffic, loyalty and monetization across websites, apps, newsletters and social channels.

The ideal candidate has senior experience in digital media, strong analytics, and a track record of actionable, cross-functional impact in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in audience development or digital strategy at a media company.
• Experience leading a team and setting direction.
• Strong understanding of digital audience trends including direct traffic and SEO.
• Experience using analytics to measure performance and influence decisions.
• Proven ability to partner with editorial, video, product, marketing and other teams.
• Knowledge of newsletters, apps, registrations and push notifications.
• Strong editorial instincts and understanding of content impact on audience.
• Excellent communication to influence stakeholders across teams.
• Proactive, resourceful and able to move quickly in scrappy environments.
• Curiosity about emerging platforms and audience trends.

Responsibilities

• Lead audience engagement strategy across a portfolio of brands to grow direct traffic and loyalty.
• Develop, coach and manage the audience engagement team with clear priorities and goals.
• Collaborate with editorial leadership to activate content strategies and franchises.
• Coordinate with video, social, product, marketing and newsletters teams to extend reach.
• Monitor trends in digital media, SEO, Google Discover and distribution channels.
• Translate audience insights into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
• Convert casual visitors into registered users, subscribers and app users.
• Grow newsletters, app engagement and other owned channels.
• Establish and monitor KPIs around audience growth, engagement and retention.
• Present insights and recommendations to senior leaders; influence priorities.
• Test new approaches, evaluate results and adjust strategies as platforms evolve.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows and maximize results in a lean environment.
