Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of Risk Management for Ecosystem Risk & Integrity in Richmond, VA. You will lead a high-performing team to secure Capital One’s global payment ecosystem, translating risk data into strategic insights and guiding executive governance.

You will build a holistic participant risk strategy, drive cross-functional collaboration, and protect the brand and financial performance through robust risk controls and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or military experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in Project and/or Process Management.
• At least 5 years experience in Operations Management.
• At least 2 years experience in Project Management.
• At least 2 years experience in People Management.
• Masters Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or Project Management.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Project and/or Process Manager within the financial services industry.
• At least 10 years of overall experience as Project and/or Process Manager.
• Business Process Management certification Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, Agile Coach certification, Compliance Certification (CRCM).

Responsibilities

• Ecosystem Risk & Integrity: Secure Capital One’s global payment ecosystem against threats and abuse by transforming risk controls and enforcing rules and standards.
• Participant Risk Rating Strategy: Build a multifaceted risk rating methodology for network participants and their adherence to Op Regs, legal, and regulatory standards.
• Intelligent Brand Protection: Lead the charge in neutralizing deceptive activities by deploying cutting-edge risk detection technologies and AI-augmented monitoring.
• Strategic Advisory & Executive Governance: Serve as a trusted advisor to GPN Executives, translating risk data into strategic insights.
• Resilient Partner Lifecycles: integrate risk ratings into a holistic participant risk management strategy.
• Cross-Functional & Analytical Innovation: Foster collaboration between data science and operations to solve network challenges.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and empower a high-performing team of Risk Specialists.
• Framework Governance: Finalize and maintain category and sub-category framework.
• Risk & Gap Assessments: Perform critical risk category assessments and gap analyses.
• Process Excellence: Lead large-scale Risk Process Improvement, Process Design, and Governance.
