Job summary

Synchrony in the United States is seeking a seasoned VP of Authentication Services to lead the enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) capabilities. You will own the workforce and B2B authentication perimeters, directing an elite engineering team to architect, scale, and operate high throughput SSO, MFA, and passwordless pipelines within a Zero Trust framework.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technical STEM discipline.
15+ years of enterprise IT engineering experience.
Minimum 5 years hands-on Okta Identity Cloud experience (OKTA Advanced Server Access, API Access Management, Workflows).
Minimum 5 years leading distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.
Expert-level mastery of SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, WS-Fed, and SCIM provisioning.
Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.

Responsibilities

Own workforce authentication strategy and communicate strategy to stakeholders.
Implement leading authentication trends to improve security and user experience.
Direct roadmaps for core authentication technologies (Okta, YubiKeys, FIDO2/WebAuthn, Mighty ID) using Jira.
Collaborate with leadership to justify and prioritize initiatives.
Architect secure zero-trust reference architectures and cryptographic policy playbooks.
Lead 24/7 engineering and operations for high availability and incident response.
Oversee application authentication/integration work with underlying infrastructure.
Enforce authentication policies, compliance standards, and risk metrics.
