Job summary

STRS Ohio, a leading retirement system for Ohio educators, seeks a Chief Actuary to lead actuarial and enterprise risk management activities. You will plan day-to-day actuarial operations, prepare valuations, and present analyses to leadership and the board.

The role requires an FSA credential, 6–10 years’ pension actuarial experience, and proficiency with actuarial software like Proval. On-site work in Columbus, OH with a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance or business administration required.
• Certification as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries required.
• Six to ten years’ experience as an actuary in consulting or pension-related organization required.
• Experience with pension actuarial software such as Proval preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of data for annual independent actuarial valuations for pension and health care benefits.
• Work closely with consulting actuary for completion, review and presentation of annual valuations and other analysis prepared for pension and health care benefits.
• Prepare and present actuarial reports and analysis to management, stakeholders and STRS Ohio Board meetings.
• Lead development and recommend long-term funding strategies for pension and health care plans.
• Lead STRS Ohio's Enterprise Risk Management framework, integrating actuarial, financial, investment, operational and strategic risks.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance or business administration
