Job summary

STRS Ohio is seeking a Chief Actuary to lead actuarial operations within the Finance/Management team, overseeing data preparation for annual valuations and coordination with consulting actuaries.

The role requires an actuarial science degree, FSA and AAA credentials, 6–10 years of experience, and proficiency with Proval. It offers onsite work in Columbus with a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance or business administration.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries required.
• Six to ten years’ experience as an actuary in consulting or pension-related organization required.
• Experience with pension actuarial software such as Proval preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day actuarial operations and inquiries.
• Oversee preparation of data for annual independent actuarial valuations for pension and health care benefits.
• Work with consulting actuary for completion, review and presentation of annual valuations and analyses.
• Prepare and present actuarial reports and analyses to management and board meetings.
• Lead development of long-term funding strategies for pension and health care plans.
