The role requires an actuarial science degree, FSA and AAA credentials, 6–10 years of experience, and proficiency with Proval. It offers onsite work in Columbus with a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

Compensation: $215,343 - $274,563

General Summary

Under the direction of the deputy executive director, Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), plan and manage all actuarial and enterprise risk management activities. Responsible for day-to-day actuarial operations and inquiries at State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio).

Summary of Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of data for annual independent actuarial valuations for pension and health care benefits.
• Work closely with consulting actuary for completion, review and presentation of annual valuations and other analysis prepared for pension and health care benefits.
• Prepare and present actuarial reports and analysis to management, stakeholders and State Teachers Retirement Board meetings serving as a trusted advisor in policy decisions.
• Lead development and recommend long-term funding strategies for pension and health care plans, incorporating actuarial best practices.
• Lead and oversee STRS Ohio's Enterprise Risk Management framework, integrating actuarial, financial, investment, operational and strategic risks.

Summary of Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance or business administration required.
• Certification as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries required.
• Six to ten years’ experience as an actuary in consulting or pension-related organization required.
