Job summary

MGT Insurance seeks a seasoned Head of Actuarial to own both pricing and reserving for its AI-native commercial P&C carrier. You will lead model-building, rate filings, and reserve estimates that inform underwriting, finance, and executive decisions.

You will partner across teams to ensure pricing adequacy by class and geography, validate AI-driven pricing signals, and build scalable actuarial infrastructure as the book grows. This role blends hands-on execution with strategic leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in commercial P&C actuarial work.
• Experience owning rate filings and reserve estimates.
• Strong technical foundation: GLMs, loss development triangles, rate indication.
• Experience with state filing requirements.
• Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations.
• Hands-on with build-from-scratch or small team.

Responsibilities

• Own pricing function including rate indications, rating plan design, rate filings, classification and territory relativities.
• Own reserving function - quarterly reserve estimates, IBNR analysis, loss development studies, reserve adequacy testing.
• Sign-off for rate filings with state departments; collaborate on regulatory justification with Legal/Compliance.
• Partner with Underwriting on rate adequacy by class, segment and geography.
• Actuarial SME for Athena AI underwriting agent - validate pricing logic and risk signals.
• Lead loss trend analysis and translate findings into pricing guidance and underwriting guidelines.
• Collaborate with Finance on reserve reporting, statutory filings and audits.
• Support reinsurance discussions with actuarial input on loss picks and treaty structuring.
