Job summary

Imperative Logistics Group is seeking a Chicago-based fleet driver to safely operate a commercial truck for local pickups and deliveries to airports and customer sites. The role requires adherence to DOT regulations, accurate records, and strong communication with dispatch.

You will load and unload cargo, maintain vehicle logs, perform basic inspections, and interact with customers daily. Candidates must have a high school diploma, a valid CDL, and at least three years of driving experience;

Responsibilities

Drives truck, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver goods locally to the airline and/or customer as determined by service level of shipment. If selected for this opportunity you must pass a background and MVR check. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*** To load, unload, and transport cargo to and from customer locations and airport.* Maintain telephone contact with dispatcher to receive instructions.* Neatly complete bill of ladings and MAWB’s (Master Airway Bill) for airlines in order to tender freight.* Maintain driver logbook and daily vehicle inspection report according to I.C.C regulations.* Interact daily with customers.* Sit, stand, climb, lift 50 lbs. Must be able to load cargo weighing in excess of 1000 lbs. with the assistance of a pallet jack **PAY*** $23.56 per hour, we consider a variety of factors in determining base compensation including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, internal equity, market data and geography. **QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS*** High School diploma* 3 years commercial driving experience* Must hold valid Driver’s License. Must be able to operate a truck with a capacity of 26,000 plus pounds gross vehicle weight.* Ability to operate handheld computer / cellular telephone. The ability to operate handheld device used to communicate shipment information* Must have knowledge of, and follow, DOT Safety standards* Must pass a background check* Must pass an MVR check **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**Must be able to operate and drive a truck with a capacity of 26,000lbs GVW. Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly. Must be able to climb into and out of tractor several times per day using 3 points of contact. Ability to lift over 50lbs at a time. Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat in order to perform a full inspection of the underside of the trailer and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage.
