Job summary

Lansing Community College is seeking a Part-Time Academic Professional - Tutor for Chemistry. The role involves on-campus tutoring to advance student success, with hours up to 30 per week and potential evening/weekend assignments.

The position emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and participation in training and professional development, within a diverse college environment that supports retention and completion goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in tutoring, supplemental instruction, learning assistant, teaching assistant, academic coaching, teaching, or training.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Available to work on campus a minimum of 12 hours up to 30 hours per week throughout the academic year, including evening and weekend assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide learning support to students with proactive tutoring and mentoring.
• Engage in departmental training, tutor training, and professional development activities.
• Act as liaison for academic programs in assigned subject areas and/or career communities.
• Demonstrate ability to work with a diverse population in a team-based environment.
