Job summary

Midland College is seeking a part-time Chemistry Tutor (PT Learning Specialist) to support students at the Main Campus in Midland, TX. You will tutor in Chemistry, helping students review material, develop study strategies, and build independent learning skills in a one-on-one or small-group setting.

The role emphasizes guiding learners, reinforcing concepts, and maintaining a professional, welcoming learning environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Chemistry demonstrated via coursework, exam scores, or relevant experience.
• Ability to work effectively with students individually and in small groups.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to explain course concepts clearly and patiently.
• Must speak and write clearly in English.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries with students.
• Basic familiarity with general office equipment and technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in Chemistry.
• Help students understand concepts, assignments, and exam material.
• Use guiding questions to foster independent learning and problem solving.
• Help students develop study habits, time management, and note-taking skills.
• Maintain tutoring records and report on sessions as required.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive environment and refer students to campus resources when needed.
• Support academic workshops, study sessions, and tutoring events as required.
• Collaborate with tutors, faculty, and staff to support student learning.
• Attend trainings, meetings, and professional development as scheduled.
