Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc in Dearborn, MI is hiring a Chemical Technician to support production through chemical testing and process monitoring on site. You will work with technicians and engineers to troubleshoot issues and maintain safety.

The role requires 3+ years in a lab or chemical operations, a high school diploma, and willingness to work 2 pm – 10 pm shift, with weekend overtime. Training provided; you will log data into PLC and operate HMI systems.

Qualifications

3+ years experience in a lab or chemical operations environment.
High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot production issues with technicians and engineers.
Follow plant safety rules including PPE and waste handling.
Test and monitor quality of plant chemicals (pretreatment baths, E-coat tanks, wastewater).
Perform physical and chemical testing on metal parts (weight, alkalinity, acidity, conductivity).
Collect daily samples and record measurements (pH, conductivity, titration).
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment (pH meters, conductivity meters, balances).
Input test results into PLC and flag out-of-spec items.
Operate and monitor HMI-enabled plant equipment and conveyer loads.
Provide coverage for peers during absences; weekend overtime as needed.
