Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Scientific Informatics Lead to drive chemistry-focused ELN and data management across discovery and synthesis. Lead requirements gathering, workflow design, platform configuration, integrations, testing and deployment to deliver scalable capabilities.

The role partners with chemists, informatics specialists and vendors to translate complex workflows into robust platform solutions. Strong chemistry domain expertise and ELN experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong domain expertise in medicinal, synthetic, process chemistry.
• Hands‑on experience with chemistry ELN platforms (Dotmatics, or similar).
• Experience capturing experiments, stoichiometry, structures, registration, and inventory.
• Experience gathering requirements, configuring workflows, testing, and deployments.
• Proven leadership of scientific informatics platforms beyond end‑user support.
• Experience with Signals Notebook, BIOVIA ELN, IDBS, Benchling, or similar.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree in chemistry, life sciences, CS, or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements discovery for chemistry experiments, reactions, compounds, samples, inventory management, and reporting processes.
• Translate workflows into user stories, functional specifications, data mappings, and acceptance criteria.
• Provide senior oversight for ELN configuration, workflow design, testing, deployment readiness, defect resolution, and user support.
• Design and optimize workflows supporting experiment capture, reaction management, chemical structures, stoichiometry calculations, and inventory tracking.
• Guide integrations with compound registration systems, inventory platforms, assay systems, analytical applications, laboratory instruments, and downstream data repositories.
• Support scientific data governance, traceability, metadata management, reporting, and data quality initiatives.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams including chemists, informatics specialists, validation teams, infrastructure, security, and product/vendor partners.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, test evidence, release notes, operational procedures, and platform documentation.
• Support platform modernization, migration, reporting, integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical and functional leadership to ensure ELN platforms effectively support chemistry R&D objectives.
