Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an experienced Operator for warehouse and materials management responsibilities in our facility in Chicago. The role requires operating, monitoring, and supporting material management systems and equipment while ensuring compliance with FDA/EPA standards and site procedures.

You will maintain accurate records, assist in training, and collaborate with maintenance, production, and project teams to optimize operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years in chemical operations in production areas preferred.
• Forklift and portable hand truck certification.
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds regularly.
• Knowledge of handling, storage, and compliance for hazardous, chemical, and biologic materials.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Experience in industrial, military, pharma, chemical, or utility plant operations is a plus.
• Broad technical knowledge of processes and site-specific systems; responds effectively to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor materials management systems and equipment.
• Start, stop, and adjust equipment per procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits.
• Assist in training new hires and operators.
• Collaborate with maintenance, production, and project teams to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with regulatory personnel to support cross-functional objectives.
• Conduct regular plant rounds and document observations.
• Maintain a safety-first mindset and identify process improvements.
