Job summary

RTX is hiring a Chemical Process Technician II to operate automated and manual equipment for processing batches of bulk materials. You will engage in mechanical and chemical processing, following procedures to complete production steps and ensure quality outcomes.

The role requires performing quality checks, maintaining safety standards, managing materials and supporting process improvements in a manufacturing environment at our Lenexa, KS site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment in line with manufacturer’s specifications and established procedures.
  • Review pre‑production activities to advance the process to production.
  • Inspect parts for defects and perform quality control procedures to ensure products meet company standards.
  • Bond dissimilar materials, assemblies, components, equipment, or structures into semi‑finished or finished products.
  • Perform surface finishing of parts, components and assembled items, including washing, painting, plating, anti‑corrosion coating, hardening, polishing, engraving, and etching.
  • Monitor and verify the quality of finished products in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.
  • Maintain the work site in accordance with established safety measures.
  • Manage inventory for materials used in production and order new supplies as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to established processes to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Provide solutions to basic technical problems and refer more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Work under direct supervision with limited discretion; follow standard procedures to complete assigned tasks and goals.

Role Overview

As a Chemical Process Technician II, you will operate automatic and/or manual equipment to process manufacturing batches of bulk materials and ingredients. Tasks include mechanical processing (mixing, grinding, separating, filtering) and chemical processing (chemical reactions, temperature and pressure control) in accordance with operating procedures to complete specific production steps or processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate production equipment in line with manufacturer’s specifications and established procedures.

  • Inspect parts for defects and perform quality control procedures to ensure products meet company standards.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
Environment, Health & Safety Requirements
  • Work in a chemical manufacturing environment with routine use of a Powered Air‑Purifying Respirator (PAPR), chemical protective clothing, gloves, boots and other required PPE.
  • Must meet the requirements of the respiratory protection program, including a medical evaluation.
