Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Lenexa is seeking a Chemical Process Technician IV to work onsite in a chemical manufacturing environment. You will follow established procedures, operate production equipment, and ensure product quality while maintaining strict safety and PPE protocols.

Ideal candidates will have a HS diploma or GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience and demonstrate strong attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a high-demand production setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment per manufacturer specifications and procedures.
  • Inspect parts and perform quality checks to ensure product conformance.
  • Maintain safe work practices and follow PPE requirements.
  • Manage materials inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Provide feedback on line performance and safety issues to supervisor.
  • Escalate nonconformances and equipment hazards as appropriate.
  • Assign work tasks to operators based on production plan.
  • Update production boards hour by hour with supervisor.

What You Will Do:
  • Works under direct supervision with limited discretion.
  • Requires instructions to complete new assignments or activities.
  • Frequently uses and applies technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Applies acquired job skills in the execution of existing procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Follows routines to achieve day-to-day objectives.
  • Uses standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Performs more involved tasks, requiring minor adjustments to work methods.
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of basic scope and complexity.
  • Works to deliver on day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on team results.
  • Refers more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Operates production equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and established procedures.
  • Reviews pre-production activities to advance process to production.
  • Inspects parts for defects and performs quality control procedures to ensure that products meet company standards.
  • Maintains work site in accordance with established safety measures.
  • Manages inventory for materials used in production and orders new supplies as needed.
  • Follows safety protocols and adheres to established processes to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Provides feedback to the supervisor about team performance, training needs, or issues seen on the line.
  • Escalates nonconformances, hazards, or equipment issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensure operators follow safety rules, PPE use, and standard work.
  • Responsible for gathering information from previous day and update boards.
  • Distributes work assignments to operators based on plan.
  • Hour by hour format updates and addresses with supervisor and deviations.
Qualification You Must Have:
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
We Prefer:
  • Previous experience inspecting parts.
  • Previous experience managing inventory.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in effective leadership.
Environment, Health & Safety Requirements:

Position requires work in a chemical manufacturing environment with routine use of Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), chemical protective clothing, gloves, boots and other required PPE. Must be able to meet the requirements of the respiratory protection program including medical evaluation.
