Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) invites qualified chemical engineering students to apply for a co-op/intern in either Process Engineering or Process Control. Responsibilities include data analysis, testing, optimizing mill performance, and assisting control-system documentation. This role requires a 3.0 GPA, U.S.

residency, and enrollment in a chemical-related program. Eligible candidates will have completed freshman year and be at least 18.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 is required.
• Must be a permanent U.S. resident with a valid driver's license.
• Majoring in Chemical or Paper Engineering or related field; freshman year completed or to be completed at time of co-op/intern.
• Must be 18 years or older at time of co-op/intern.

Responsibilities

• Support process optimization and engineering projects to improve mill efficiency, reliability, quality, safety, and cost performance.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret process, production, and laboratory data for troubleshooting and decision support.
• Conduct routine pulp, paper, and chemical testing for process evaluations and quality control.
• Monitor process sensing equipment, loops, and control systems for reliability and operation.
• Assist startup activities, maintenance inspections, and safety documentation updates.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
• Support with control system documentation and data entry.
