Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) invites applications for Chemical Engineering Co-Op/Intern or Process Control Co-Op/Intern roles in Jacksonville, FL. The positions may be filled as either process engineering or process control engineering based on mill needs.

Responsibilities include supporting process optimization, data analysis, testing, and documentation updates, with opportunities to work on startup activities and control system improvements.

Qualifications

• Must be majoring in Chemical or Paper Engineering or a related field.
• Must be 18 years or older and able to work as a co-op/intern in the U.S.
• Must have completed freshman year (or will have completed freshman year) at time of co-op/intern.

Responsibilities

• Support process optimization and projects to improve mill efficiency, reliability, quality, safety, and cost.
• Collect and interpret process, production, and lab data for troubleshooting and decision-making.
• Conduct routine pulp, paper, and chemical testing for process evaluations and quality control.
• Monitor sensing equipment, loops, and control systems for accuracy and reliability.
• Assist with startup activities, maintenance inspections, and safety documentation updates.
• Additional duties as requested by management.
• For process control: assist with troubleshooting, advanced process control, DCS, and documentation updates.
• Collect and analyze data to support troubleshooting, reliability, and process optimization.
