Job summary

Ebenezer's Vernon Terrace of Edina is seeking a Chef to prepare meals in line with recipes, nutrition standards, and IDDSI guidelines. The role supports full-time kitchen operations in a senior living community with emphasis on quality and safety.

You will weigh ingredients, assemble meals, supervise staff in the supervisor’s absence, and ensure delightful resident dining while maintaining sanitation and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 0-1 Year Experience
• Must be 18+ years old
• Food Handler certification within 90 Days or alternative option must be provided
• Vacational School Technical Training or Associate Degree - Food Service
• 1-3 Years Experience
• CFPM certification or Minnesota state cert within 90 Days

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items to specified temperatures, following standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality, nutritional value, and proper portioning.
• Weigh and measure ingredients per standardized recipes and ensure accurate portioning.
• Assemble meals and bakery items within designated time frames, complete daily preparation tasks and assist with special events.
• Prepare texturized diets utilizing IDDSI standards.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and follow cleaning schedules and safety procedures.
• Supervise kitchen staff, manage daily operations and communicate resident and guest feedback on meal service.

Job Overview

Vernon Terrace of Edina is located conveniently near public transportation stops and close to St. Louis Park, Hopkins, and Southwest Minneapolis. The Chef is responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and presented in accordance with applicable regulations and customer expectations.

This Nutrition schedule includes;

• 80 hours every two weeks ; full time


• Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items to specified temperatures, following standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality, nutritional value, and proper portioning. Weigh and measure ingredients per standardized recipes.


• Assemble meals and bakery items within designated time frames, complete daily preparation tasks accurately, and assist with special events.


• Proper knowledge and preparation of texturized diets utilizing International Dysphagia Diet Standardization (IDDSI) standards.


• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by following proper cleaning schedules, using recommended equipment and chemicals, separating clean and dirty areas, and thoroughly scrubbing pots and pans as required.


• Demonstrates the ability to supervise kitchen staff, manage daily operations and customer service in the supervisor’s absence, and effectively communicate resident and guest feedback on meal and service quality.

Required Qualifications

• 0 - 1 Year Experience


• Must be 18+ years old


• Food Handlers certification Issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 Days or

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational School Technical Training or Associate Degree - Food Service


• 1 - 3 Years Experience


• Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications


• Food Protection Manager certification Issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 Days or Certified Food Protection Manager certificate (CFPM) Must be issued by the State of Minnesota for locations in the state of MN within 90 Days
