Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a compassionate School Social Worker to join our full-time school-based team in Chicago, IL. You will provide counseling and support services to students, collaborate with families and educators, and help create an inclusive learning environment.

Required qualifications include a Master's in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program and valid IL PEL certification. Previous school-based or pediatric experience is preferred, with relocation assistance

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Conduct assessments and identify barriers to learning
• Develop and implement intervention plans to support student success
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, psychologists, counselors, and related service providers
• Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS, and student support team meetings
• Connect students and families with school and community resources
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation
• Support attendance initiatives and social-emotional learning programs
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations

As a School Social Worker, you will collaborate with students, families, educators, and community partners to identify barriers to learning, provide counseling and support services, and connect students with resources that promote educational achievement and overall well-being.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
• Valid IL PEL certification as a Social Worker
• Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred
• Knowledge of special education processes, behavioral interventions, and student support services
• Strong communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and community agencies

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Conduct assessments and help identify barriers impacting student learning and school participation
• Develop and implement intervention plans to support student success
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services as needed
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, psychologists, counselors, and related service providers
• Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS, and student support team meetings as appropriate
• Connect students and families with school and community resources
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation
• Support attendance initiatives, behavioral interventions, and social-emotional learning programs
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations regarding student services
