Job summary

Medix in San Jose, CA is seeking a Chart Retrieval Specialist (Data Entry/Medical Records) to support EMR workflows. You will download charts, verify accuracy, and maintain HIPAA-compliant electronic records while providing precise data entry and strong attention to detail.

Workweek is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, on a 4-6 month contract with potential for advancement. The role offers a hands-on opportunity to deepen EMR and medical terminology knowledge within a prominent healthcare

Qualifications

• Strong data entry, MS Office, and EHR proficiency.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare privacy rules.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication.

Responsibilities

• Download charts from the EMR according to established workflows and requests.
• Review downloaded charts for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation before processing or distributing records.
• Navigate the EMR to locate relevant patient information, including demographics, clinical documentation, diagnoses, orders, results, and other medical records as required.
• Organize and maintain electronic patient records in accordance with established health information management procedures.
• Perform accurate data entry and update patient information while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
• Ensure all patient information is handled in accordance with HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and applicable healthcare privacy regulations.
• Use Microsoft Office and other computer applications to manage, organize, and track records and related information.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy while managing potentially high volumes of electronic medical records.
• Follow established procedures for secure handling, storage, and transmission of protected health information (PHI).
