Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Charge Nurse RN in Fort Smith, AR to lead a multidisciplinary team and deliver safe, high-quality patient care. In this full-time role, you will assess patient changes, develop care plans, administer treatments, and mentor staff.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year of RN experience, an active RN license, and BLS. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available and there is no contract requirement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (or obtained within 30 days of hire).

• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient conditions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
• Administer treatments, medications, and nursing interventions.
• Provide patient and family education to support positive outcomes.
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Lead daily operations by coordinating staffing, assignments, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (or obtained within 30 days of hire).

Preferred

• Charge nurse or leadership experience.
• Specialty certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, OCN, CPHON, C-EFM, or other unit-specific certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and twist as needed for patient care.
