Job summary

The Frye Regional Medical Center is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro Science unit. This 20-bed unit emphasizes self-scheduling, 12-hour day shifts, and a patient population including spine/neck/head surgery, stroke and seizure.

You will lead care coordination and document medical necessity to support quality outcomes. Ideal candidates hold an North Carolina RN license, BLS, and ACLS/PALS/NIHSS within six months; 2–4 years Neuro/Ortho experience and Charge Nurse background are

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS required within six months of hire.
• 2–4 years Neuro/Ortho RN experience required.
• Charge Nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

More About Our Team

The RN Neuro Science unit at Frye Regional Medical Center is a 20- Bed unit with a patient population including, but not limited to, spine/ neck/ head surgery, stroke and seizure. The unit offers self-scheduling, 12-hour shifts, and every-other-weekend rotation, helping promote flexibility and work-life balance. Nurses gain valuable experience caring for a diverse patient population while working alongside experienced leaders and a strong interdisciplinary team.

How You'll Contribute

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Additional requirements include:

• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.


• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.


• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS are required within six months of hire.


• 2-4 years of Neuro/ Ortho RN experience required.


• Charge Nurse experience preferred.
