Job summary

Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home in El Paso, TX seeks a Part-Time Charge Nurse to supervise daily nursing activities and ensure high-quality care in line with regulations. This on-site role offers meaningful work serving veterans with leadership responsibilities.

You will oversee admissions, staffing, care planning, and performance evaluations, coordinating with families and physicians while promoting respectful, patient-centered care in a calm, supportive unit.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree or approved LN program graduate with an active, unencumbered state LN license.
• At least one year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
• Trained in rehabilitative and restorative nursing; familiar with current nursing practices and procedures.
• Knowledgeable of long‑term care laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
• Leadership and interpersonal skills; capable of leading staff with professionalism and tact.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily nursing activities to ensure high-quality care and compliance with regulations.
• Oversee resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers; coordinate with families and funeral homes as needed.
• Monitor staffing levels, attendance, and performance; participate in evaluations and supervision.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes and ensure care plans are followed.
• Notify families and physicians of significant condition changes; address concerns per procedures.
• Lead orientation and in-service education; ensure infection control protocols are followed.
• Provide direct nursing care as needed; support monitoring of critically ill residents.
• Ensure availability of medications and supplies; maintain clean, safe environments.
• Promote residents’ rights and dignity; participate in care planning and updates.
• Complete incident reports and escalate issues to nursing leadership with follow-up actions.
