Job summary

HMR Veterans Services is seeking a Charge Nurse to supervise daily nursing activities and ensure high-quality care for residents at our El Paso facility.

Responsibilities include admissions, staffing oversight, care planning, and coordination with physicians while maintaining compliance with regulations. A nursing degree or LN program completion and an active license are required, with at least one year of supervisory experience in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree or approved LN program with active, unencumbered state license.
• Experience: at least one year of supervisory work in healthcare.
• Knowledge of rehabilitative/restorative nursing and current practices.
• Familiarity with long-term care laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Strong communication in English, with leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily nursing activities to ensure high-quality care.
• Coordinate with departments to support resident care and participate in surveys.
• Oversee admissions, discharges, and room transfers; communicate with families.
• Monitor staffing, evaluate performance, and supervise nurse aides and trainees.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes and ensure care plans are followed.
• Lead orientation and in-service training; enforce infection control protocols.
• Provide direct nursing care as needed and manage emergency responses.
• Ensure availability of medications, supplies, and equipment; maintain clean units.
