Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) for weekend nights (Friday–Sunday) to lead nursing staff in a rehabilitation setting.

You will collaborate with nursing leadership to deliver patient-centered care, coordinate interventions, and ensure safety and quality across units. The role requires a valid RN license in Missouri, a BSN is preferred, and at least two years in rehab or acute care with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with state licensure; BSN preferred.
• Mandatory child and adult abuse certificate.
• Minimum of two years in rehabilitative or acute care; leadership ability.
• Excellent communication skills; English; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities with nursing leadership as Charge Nurse.
• Act as first line support for staff and physicians on clinical issues.
• Direct, coach, and mentor nursing staff to meet quality and safety goals.
• Collaborate with CNO on clinical development and department coverage.

How You'll Make an Impact

As aCharge Nurse,you'llbe a trusted partner in our patients' recovery journeys. You will:

• The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who works in coordination with nursing leadership.
• The Charge Nurse is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on clinical issues and provides assessment, prioritization and direction of activities to meet the challenging demands of the hospital units.
• Following the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, he or she assumes accountability for fostering the established professional practice and care delivery models through directing, coaching and mentoring the nursing staff.
• The Charge Nurse implements unit specific strategies as well as colleague specific practice remediation that results in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes.
• This role also collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer on clinical development (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.) and is the clinical support for the department when the Chief Nursing Officer is unavailable, along with other Nursing leadership.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state, BSN preferred.
• Mandatory child and adult abuse certificate required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and/or demonstrates leadership ability.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.

Additional requirements include:

• CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.
• CRRN Preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital is located on North Outer Forty Road in Chesterfield, in western St. Louis County, near Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
