Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) for the Rehabilitation unit, with weekend night shifts (Friday–Sunday). You will lead clinical staff, coordinate care, and support patient recovery in a collaborative hospital environment.

As a pivotal part of the nursing leadership team, you will ensure high-quality care, staff mentorship, and adherence to professional practice standards while collaborating with leadership to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited RN program with current licensure in the state; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and/or demonstrates leadership ability.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective communication in English; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct activities of clinical personnel on units.
• Provide assessment, prioritization and direction of staff on clinical issues.
• Foster professional practice and care delivery models with nursing leadership.
• Collaborate with Chief Nursing Officer on clinical development and be the clinical support when unavailable.

As aCharge Nurse,you'llbe a trusted partner in our patients' recovery journeys. You will:

• The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who works in coordination with nursing leadership.
• The Charge Nurse is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on clinical issues and provides assessment, prioritization and direction of activities to meet the challenging demands of the hospital units.
• Following the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, he or she assumes accountability for fostering the established professional practice and care delivery models through directing, coaching and mentoring the nursing staff.
• The Charge Nurse implements unit specific strategies as well as colleague specific practice remediation that results in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes.
• This role also collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer on clinical development (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.) and is the clinical support for the department when the Chief Nursing Officer is unavailable, along with other Nursing leadership.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state, BSN preferred.
• Mandatory child and adult abuse certificate required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and/or demonstrates leadership ability.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.

Additional requirements include:

• CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.
• CRRN Preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital is located on North Outer Forty Road in Chesterfield, in western St. Louis County, near Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
