Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) for weekend night coverage (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) to support rehabilitation services.

You will work closely with nursing leadership, coordinate patient care, and guide clinical staff to maintain high-quality outcomes. The role demands strong communication, two years of rehabilitative or acute care experience, and current RN licensure in Missouri.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state; BSN preferred.
• Mandatory child and adult abuse certificate.
• Minimum of two years of experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and/or demonstrates leadership ability.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills.
• CPR/BCLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• CRRN preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with nursing leadership as the Charge Nurse.
• Serve as first line support for staff, physicians and other providers on clinical issues; assess, prioritize and direct activities.
• Direct, coach and mentor nursing staff under the Chief Nursing Officer.
• Implement unit-specific strategies and practice remediation to improve clinical quality and patient safety.
• Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer on clinical development and act as clinical support when leadership is unavailable.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Charge Nurse, you'll be a trusted partner in our patients' recovery journeys. You will:

• The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who works in coordination with nursing leadership.
• The Charge Nurse is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on clinical issues and provides assessment, prioritization and direction of activities to meet the challenging demands of the hospital units.
• Following the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, he or she assumes accountability for fostering the established professional practice and care delivery models through directing, coaching and mentoring the nursing staff.
• The Charge Nurse implements unit specific strategies as well as colleague specific practice remediation that results in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes.
• This role also collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer on clinical development (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.) and is the clinical support for the department when the Chief Nursing Officer is unavailable, along with other Nursing leadership.

Location: Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital is located on North Outer Forty Road in Chesterfield, in western St. Louis County, near Mercy Hospital St.Louis.
