Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) to lead nursing teams in our rehabilitation units. This full-time weekend-night role supports patient recovery and collaborates with nursing leadership to ensure high-quality care.

You will supervise staff, coordinate clinical activities, and mentor team members, with a focus on patient safety, quality outcomes, and effective communication. MO license and RN credentials required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with MO licensure; BSN preferred.
• Mandatory child and adult abuse certificate required.
• Minimum of two years' experience in rehabilitative or acute care and leadership.
• Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills; English proficiency; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing leadership as the first line for staff, physicians and providers.
• Assess, prioritize, and direct activities to meet unit demands.
• Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer on practice standards and staff development.
• Implement unit strategies and remediation to improve clinical quality and patient safety.
• Serve as clinical support in the department when Nursing leadership is unavailable.

How You'll Make An Impact

As a Charge Nurse, you'll be a trusted partner in our patients' recovery journeys. You will:

• The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who works in coordination with nursing leadership.
• The Charge Nurse is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on clinical issues and provides assessment, prioritization and direction of activities to meet the challenging demands of the hospital units.
• Following the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, he or she assumes accountability for fostering the established professional practice and care delivery models through directing, coaching and mentoring the nursing staff.
• The Charge Nurse implements unit specific strategies as well as colleague specific practice remediation that results in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes.
• This role also collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer on clinical development (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.) and is the clinical support for the department when the Chief Nursing Officer is unavailable, along with other Nursing leadership.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state, BSN preferred.
• Mandatory child and adult abuse certificate required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and/or demonstrates leadership ability.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.

Additional Requirements Include

• CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.
• CRRN Preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital is located on North Outer Forty Road in Chesterfield, in western St. Louis County, near Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
