Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System in Lake Charles, LA seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide professional nursing care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. You will assess health problems, educate patients, develop and implement care plans, and support patients and families.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for total nursing care for all patients assigned by the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

• Graduate of School of Nursing.
• Current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or compact state license as Registered Nurse.
• BLS-CPR certified.
• 2 years of bedside nursing care, preferred but not required.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organizes patient care and unit activities with delegation of tasks to staff as appropriate.
• Facilitates patient flow and coordinates admissions.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in planning patient care.
• Maintains effective communication with the Director regarding patient flow and staffing.
• Serves as designated charge nurse and leads unit in the Director's absence.
• Accepts direct care assignments based on staffing needs.
• Uses nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Performs initial assessments and reassessments and documents appropriately.
• Administers medications competently and educates patients and families.
• Interprets and implements physician orders and delegates as needed.
• Directs and coordinates nursing care to meet patient needs.
• Complies with LSBN Rules of Delegation and staff competency.
