Job summary

Saint Mary’s Health Network, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Charge Nurse for the Cardiovascular Laboratory. The role covers leadership, direct patient care, and collaboration with physicians to ensure high-quality surgical support for adult and geriatric patients.

Requires BSN preference, RN license, BCLS/ACLS, and 1 year of Cardiovascular Lab or Critical Care experience. Full-time, day shift, on-site in Reno, NV.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Active state RN license required.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certificates on hire and maintained.
• One year of clinical Cardiovascular Lab or Critical Care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and ensure quality of care and staff performance during the shift.
• Directly communicate with staff and department supervisor.
• Assist with daily unit operations, directing and evaluating personnel.
• Ensure efficient department function and resource use.
• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients in the cardiovascular setting.
• Address psychosocial, physical, and care aspects of the surgical environment.
• Communicate with physicians regarding patient condition as needed.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and inventory; ensure supplies for cases.
• Monitor Physiologic/hemodynamic data during cardiovascular procedures.
• Record patient status and participate in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

The Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Directly communicates with all staff along with the Supervisor of the department. Assists the Department Supervisor in the daily operation of the unit, directing and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiovascular Laboratory team are met. Monitors physiologic and hemodynamic data, as related to diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures performed in the cardiovascular lab. Monitors and records patients’ condition continuously while in the Cardiovascular lab. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required.
• Current BCLS, ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current; required.
• One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required.
