Job summary

Saint Mary’s Health Network in Reno, NV seeks a Charge Nurse for our Cardiovascular Laboratory. You will oversee staff, provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics, and collaborate with physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements include a BSN preferred and an active RN license with current BCLS and ACLS. Cardiovascular lab or critical care experience is preferred; this is a full-time day-shift role in an award-winning hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations in the cardiovascular lab.

• Assist with equipment maintenance, inventory management and case readiness.
• Monitor physiologic data and patient condition during diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

The Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Directly communicates with all staff along with the Supervisor of the department. Assists the Department Supervisor in the daily operation of the unit, directing and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiovascular Laboratory team are met. Monitors physiologic and hemodynamic data, as related to diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures performed in the cardiovascular lab. Monitors and records patients' condition continuously while in the Cardiovascular lab. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required.
• Current BCLS, ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current; required.
• One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required.
