Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Tallahassee, FL seeks a Billing Specialist to ensure accurate insurance data and authorizations for billing. You will collaborate with the nursing leadership and providers to verify schedules and orders, and work with Patient Financial Services to address denials and appeals.

The role supports Finance and Charge Capture teams to keep the charge master accurate and up to date, while analyzing daily reports to identify workflow improvements and communicate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
• Associate degree in finance or health-related field preferred.
• Two years of healthcare finance, authorization, reimbursement or billing experience required.
• Two+ years of clinical experience; MS Office experience.
• Strong knowledge of coding, billing and reimbursement processes; strong workflow knowledge.
• Excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure insurance information and authorizations are accurate for billing.
• Collaborate with RN/Nurse Manager and providers to verify scheduling and orders.
• Review denials and prepare appeals for correct reimbursement.
• Coordinate with Finance and Charge Capture to ensure the charge master is accurate.
• Analyze daily reports to optimize workflow and inform end users of issues.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your Role:

• Responsible for ensuring insurance information and authorizations areaccurate for appropriate billing.
• Works in partnership with the RN/NurseManager and referring providers to ensure accuracy of scheduling,laboratory order entries, and activations.
• Works in partnership with PatientFinancial Services (department 8221) in reviewing denials and preparingappeals for correct reimbursement.
• Works in partnership with Finance(department 8211) and Charge Capture (department 8243) to ensure thecharge master is accurate and up to date.
• Analyzes and audits daily reportsto ensure optimum workflow; communicates with end users to identifyissues and recommend workflow changes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high schoolequivalency).

Preferred Education:

• Associate degree in a finance- or health-related field.

Required Experience:

• Two (2) years of healthcare finance, authorization, reimbursement and/or billing experience

Preferred Experience:

• Two (2) or more years of clinical experience. Experience with Microsoft (MS) Office (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, andAccess).

Oneor more of the following: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and SurgicalAssisting (NBSTSA), Tech in Surgery--Certified (TS-C) credential fromthe National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Nationally CertifiedOperating Room and Surgical Technician (NCORST) credential from theNational Healthcare Workers Association (NHCWA), or the NationallyCertified Surgical Technologist (NCST) credential from American AlliedHealth (AAH).
