Job summary

Hinds LifeCare in Fresno, CA is seeking a Per Diem Chaplain to provide spiritual support to patients and families in accordance with the hospice philosophy.

Reporting to the RN Clinical Manager, the chaplain will coordinate with the Interdisciplinary team, ensure compliance with policies, and participate in care planning. Weekend availability is required and travel within the service area may be needed.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited seminary or school of theology; ordination or endorsement from a faith community.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's in theology preferred.
• Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent training/experience in hospital or pastoral ministry.
• 1–3 years experience with patients/families facing life-threatening illness and death desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual services and support to patients and families per their belief system.
• Implement hospice spirituality activities consistent with policies and procedures.
• Coordinate care with the Interdisciplinary team and report to RN Clinical Manager.
• Meet the physical demands of the role and be available to work weekends.

Qualifications

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Graduated from an accredited seminary or school of theology. Ordination or endorsement from a faith community.
• Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent training and/or experience in hospital or pastoral ministry.
• Bachelors degree from a related specialty required; Masters Degree in theology or similar study is preferred.
• One-three years prior experience in working with patients/families dealing with life threatening illness and death desirable.
• An understanding of the internal dynamics of the Interdisciplinary team with other staff members, externally, in the patient/family setting, with other clergy, and in the community.
• Recent TB, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, HepB immunizations.
• Must have a valid drivers license and a willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.
• Must show proof of automobile insurance, proof of current auto registration and acceptable driving record (no more than 3 points within a 36-month period).
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (i.e., Push, Pull, Lift/Carry 35 lbs.)
• Available to work weekends.
