Job summary

Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Kentucky seeks a Chaplain II to provide spiritual care and emotional support within the patient care context. You will work with patients, families, and staff as part of a multidisciplinary team and uphold the hospital’s Catholic healthcare mission.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field and 1 year of healthcare chaplaincy experience with ecclesial endorsement. 24/7 on-call with weekend/holiday coverage is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in related field such as Religious, Divinity, or Theology (required)
• Doctoral degree in Theology or Philosophy (preferred)
• Ecclesial endorsement from church body to be involved in hospital ministry (Required?)

Responsibilities

• Recognize sacramental needs of the Catholic population.
• Provide for religious and ritual needs of diverse faith groups.
• Minister to a diverse population with non-proselytizing approach and offer emotional/spiritual support.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide advanced pastoral care and counseling techniques.
• Participate in clinical care conferences with spiritual care focus.
• Conduct full-spectrum spiritual care assessments and care planning.
• Provide spiritual interventions in end-of-life and crisis cases.
• Coordinate delivery of pastoral care resources and referrals.
• Elicit care preferences including Advanced Medical Directives.
• Document relevant information in EMR for interdisciplinary care.
