Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Chaplain for the Jacksonville, FL facility to provide compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, and associates. You will engage in regular visitations, address emotional and spiritual distress, and collaborate with the care team to integrate holistic spiritual care into treatment plans.

Roles include mentoring Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students and fellows, ensuring compliance with credentialing timelines, and contributing to a supportive environment

Qualifications

• Credential as Chaplain from NAC or board certification within 2 years of hire date.
• Master's degree in Theology, Spirituality, or related field is required.
• 3 CPE units if not board-certified; 4 CPE units preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate religious and spiritual counsel to patients, families, and associates.
• Conduct consistent visitations and spiritual care to support emotional and spiritual well-being.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team to integrate holistic spiritual care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Provide compassionate religious and spiritual counsel to patients, families, and associates, addressing emotional and spiritual distress with respect for all cultures and traditions.
• Cultivate deep spiritual and religious connections through consistent visitation and communication, serving as a pillar of support for patients and their families.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the seamless integration of holistic spiritual care into the patient's overall treatment and wellness plan.
• Develop future spiritual care professionals by actively mentoring Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students and fellows.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Chaplain credentialed from the National Association of Catholic Chaplains obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or NAJC (or certification obtained within 2 years of hire, risking termination if not obtained within timeframe) is required.

Education

• Master's degree or enrolled in a Master's degree program in Theology, Spirituality, Social Work, Divinity, Philosophy, Servant Leadership, Pastoral Studies, Human Behavior, or a related field from an accredited school is required. 3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE, CPEI, or CPSP is required only if not board-certified. 4 units of accredited CPE are preferred.
