Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Chaplain in the Spiritual Care department at Ascension DePaul Community Health Center in New Orleans, LA. The role is full-time day shift, onsite, focused on providing pastoral care, performing sacraments, and supporting holistic patient care within a Catholic health system.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's in Divinity/Theology, 4 ACPE CPE units, and 3–5 years of healthcare chaplaincy experience, with board certification or ecclesiastical endorsement.

Qualifications

• Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or NAJC at time of hire or within two years; ecclesiastical endorsement if not certified.
• Master's Degree in Divinity, Theology, or related field from an accredited school.
• 4 units of ACPE-affiliated Clinical Pastoral Education required.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to the local ministry and community through sacraments, rituals, blessings and liturgies.
• Participate and collaborate with others in the delivery of holistic patient care.
• Build and maintain relationships with patients, families and associates through regular visitations and communication to create spiritual connections.
• Mentor CPE students and fellows.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or the NAJC at time of hire or job transfer (or obtained within two years of hire or job transfer; risking termination if not obtained within timeframe) is required.
• For those not board certified at time of hire or job transfer, ecclesiastical endorsement is required.

Education

• Master's Degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field from an accredited school is required.
• 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE is required.

Work Experience

• 3-5 years of healthcare experience as a chaplain is preferred.
