Position Summary

The Changeover Manager assumes management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of the arena, providing direct supervision of all full-time and part-time changeover employees specifically in the areas of room sets, show care, and conversions at the Santander Arena.

This role will pay an annual salary of $45,000-$55,000.

This position will remain open until July 31, 2025.

About the Venue

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The arena hosts a variety of live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family-friendly events, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

Responsibilities
  1. Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in arena operations and event setups.
  2. Select, train, motivate, and evaluate front-line staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures for changeover staff.
  3. Assist in planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing work plans for facility operations.
  4. Participate in developing and administering the Operations budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures and make necessary adjustments.
  5. Develop long-range plans for future events.
  6. Assign appropriate changeover personnel to efficiently set up and tear down events.
  7. Communicate between shifts regarding pending tasks.
  8. Maintain knowledge of operations equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball floors, hockey glass, etc.
  9. Coordinate between changeover crew and housekeeping needs with the Housekeeping Manager.
  10. Maintain departmental equipment.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in facility management, event management, or related field; experience considered in lieu of education.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an operations/facility position in an arena, convention center, or similar environment, with knowledge of setup, housekeeping, and event coordination.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer skills; experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, internet-based programs, and basic typing skills preferred.
  • Ability to be available via a company-provided cell phone, email, and text.
  • Effective leadership skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety standards.
  • Forklift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Clear, concise, professional communication skills in-person and in writing.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License preferred.
  • Ability to work event-driven schedules including shifts of 8 hours or more, on varying days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
