Job description

Position Summary

The Senior Event Manager (SEM) is a team-oriented professional responsible for managing all aspects of touring events at the facility, from advanced planning to event execution. The SEM will also handle booking or coordinating revenue-generating events. As the lead for the Event Department, the SEM oversees the Event Manager and may hire, train, schedule, and supervise all event staff in collaboration with the Event Manager. The role involves interaction with local public safety officials to ensure smooth operations, coordination of communication among event staff, and ensuring an exceptional customer and lessee experience.

This role offers an annual salary of $50,000-$60,000.

About the Venue

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, serves as the home for the Reading Royals (ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers). The arena hosts a variety of events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and family-friendly shows, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee front of house, back of house, and security operations for events.
  2. Create event layouts using AutoCAD or similar software.
  3. Address personnel matters and recommend actions.
  4. Continuously improve operations, streamline processes, and enhance customer service.
  5. Develop and implement policies, programs, and procedures for the facility.
  6. Prepare management reports and manuals, including the Event Handbook and Booking Policies.
  7. Lead interdepartmental projects and represent senior management as needed.
  8. Establish effective working relationships with staff, stakeholders, and users.
  9. Manage staff schedules, training, and payroll.
  10. Coordinate communication during load-in and load-out.
  11. Resolve event-related issues professionally.
  12. Ensure safety and emergency procedures are in place and understood.
  13. Collaborate with finance and food services as needed.
  14. Serve as Manager on Duty as required.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in event management within stadiums, arenas, or similar facilities.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in facility management, hospitality, business, marketing, or related field; experience may substitute for education.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and internet software.
  4. Current CPR certification and valid driver’s license.
  5. Knowledge of public assembly management, crowd control, safety regulations, and A/V systems.
  6. Experience with budgeting, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
  7. Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
