Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Challoner Operator at our Stokesdale, NC facility to machine accurate and quality materials for shipment. You will work the 3:00PM – 1:30AM shift Monday through Thursday with overtime as needed, ensuring safety rules are followed and daily paperwork is completed.

The role requires at least 9th grade, good reading of tapes and calipers, and strong mechanical ability. You will participate in setup, quality checks, and on-the-job training of teammates to run the machine

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have completed 9th grade.
• Able to communicate effectively in writing and speech.
• Able to read a tape measure, caliper, and specifications.
• Able to work independently and with others.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.

• Set up machine in a timely fashion and maintain daily paperwork.
• Read and process orders on worksheets for end prep and haunch detail.

Pay:

The hourly pay rate for this position is $19.60 + benefits. This information is specific to Stokesdale, NC and may not be applicable to other locations.

What your day in this role might involve at OC Stokesdale:

The primary purpose of this position is to machine accurate and quality materials for shipment.

• Observe all safety rules and procedures
• Perform all duties of a crew member.
• Set-up machine in a timely fashion
• Keep accurate daily paperwork.
• Learn to read and process orders on worksheets for end prep and haunch detail.
• Use proper lockout tagout procedures, which include knowing how to set insert tooling.
• Tie up finished units to be pulled and tagged properly.
• Grade material off the back of the machine to appropriate customer specifications.
• Putty and repairs as necessary.
• Perform preventative maintenance of entire machine including lubrications.
• Perform quality checks throughout the production process, ensuring manufacturing specifications are achieved.
• Delegate tasks and train team members to run the machine center efficiently and accurately.

What makes a successful OC Stokesdale team member:

Must haves include…

• 9th grade completion and be at least 18 Years Old
• Effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Read a tape measure, caliper, and spec (details)
• Able to work independently and work with others
• Good hand-eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable

Would be terrific if you also had…

• Preferably one year experience in a manufacturing setting

There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:

• Stand for 10 hours straight
• Do repetitive movements (hand, wrist and arm)
• Walk, bend, twist, stoop, climb stairs and lift 35lbs
• Withstand exposure to heat in excess of 95 degrees; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
• Be exposed to wood dust and aluminum with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent.
