Job summary

Owens Corning in Colfax, NC is seeking a manufacturing associate to support production schedules and operate equipment safely on site. You will follow job orders, gather materials, perform quality checks, and help keep product flow efficient across the plant.

The role requires HS diploma or GED (preferred) and the ability to pass background/drug screening. Advancement opportunities are noted with a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Operate hand tools, power tools and forklifts safely.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

  • Contribute to a safe work environment by following safety rules and Colfax procedures.
  • Read production schedules and ensure correct product is manufactured on time and placed correctly.
  • Follow job orders and schematics; adjust equipment parameters to meet targets.
  • Gather materials as needed to maintain continuous production and flow.
  • Perform quality checks throughout production to meet specifications.
  • Communicate professionally to support product flow through the plant.
  • Under supervision, perform a variety of tasks in Colfax Production Areas and assist as needed.

What you will do:
  • Contribute to and foster a safe work environment by upholding all safety rules and procedures, asking questions when unsure, and embracing our Target Zero philosophy.
  • Read, understand, and follow production schedules ensuring the right product is manufactured at the right time and at the right place.
  • Follow production job orders and schematics, this position adjusts/sets equipment parameters and ensures applicable parameters are achieved.
  • Gather materials as needed based on established production schedules to ensure a continuous and efficient door crafting process.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the production process, ensuring manufacturing specifications are achieved.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively to support product flow through plant.
  • Under general supervision you will perform a variety of job duties within the overall boundaries of the Colfax Production Areas. You will perform cleanup for the entire department, operate various pieces of powered equipment as necessary to perform assigned task, assist in areas where needed, and perform related job duties as required.
What you will need:
  • Preferably one year experience in manufacturing setting
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Use a computer to read order specifications, update databases, and retrieve/update data as required.
  • Able to accurately take measurements using a tap measure and calipers.
  • Use hand tools, power tools and drive fork trucks and use push carts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Must be able to add & subtract fractions and whole numbers and convert fractions to decimals.
  • Ability to read, follow, and understand work instructions from both written and verbal sources and basic writing skills.
  • Excellent attendance record
