Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a CNC Machine Operator at the Stokesdale, NC facility to set up, operate, and monitor the PADE DUET five-axis CNC machine. You will produce quality components per drawings and schedules, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with standards.

The role requires reading drawings, operating CNC controls, and performing inspections. Shift is 5:00AM–3:30PM Mon-Thu with potential OT and a pay rate of $20.60 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the PADE DUET five-axis CNC machine per production requirements.
  • Load and unload materials, fixtures, and finished components safely.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and CNC programs.
  • Verify machine settings, tooling, and material specs before runs.
  • Work with engineering to develop and verify CNC programs.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Monitor operations and adjust for dimensional accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate repairs or corrective actions.
  • Maintain routine preventive maintenance and housekeeping.

5:00AM – 3:30PM Monday-Thursday; OT as needed

What your day in this role might involve at OC Stokesdale:

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring the PADE DUET five-axis CNC machine to produce quality components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and production schedules. Responsible for supporting efficient production operations by ensuring equipment performance, product quality, workplace safety, and compliance with manufacturing standards.

  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, PPE requirements, and company policies.
  • Set up and operate the PADE DUET five-axis CNC machine according to production requirements.
  • Load and unload materials, fixtures, and finished components safely and efficiently.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and CNC programs.
  • Verify machine settings, tooling, and material specifications before production runs.
  • Work with engineering staff to develop, verify, and improve CNC programs
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring instruments and quality standards.
  • Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues and coordinate repairs or corrective actions when needed.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records.
  • Collaborate with production control, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Participate in Total Productive Maintenance guidelines focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.

  • Technical certification in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience preferred.
  • Experience with multi-axis or automated CNC machining equipment preferred.Experience in woodworking, aerospace, metal fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environments is a plus.
There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:
  • Manufacturing facility environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg); bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lifting, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Employee must be able to withstand heat more than 95 degrees in the summer and cold temperatures in the winter.
  • Exposure to machine noise, dust, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
  • Overtime may be required based on production demands.
