Job summary

Center For Sight in Sarasota, FL is seeking a dedicated Optical Retail Assistant to join our team. This role blends high-end optical retail with patient service, requiring attentiveness, accuracy, and a friendly demeanor to support both customers and clinical colleagues.

The position is full-time, based in Sarasota, with typical hours Monday through Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm, and occasional travel to other locations as needed. Prior retail or eye-care experience is valuable and expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Listen and address patient needs per company standards.
• Answer phones and relay needs to Opticians and Optical Technicians.
• Process contact lens orders and lens encounters with suppliers.
• Navigate insurance sites to explain benefits and costs.
• Sell accessories and create encounters.
• Learn and use the lensometer and manage frame inventory.

Essential Job Functions:

• Listen and address needs of patients as evidenced by company standards and policies.
• Answer the phones, and communicate patient’s needs to the Opticians and Optical Technicians.
• Efficiently take orders for contact lenses, create contact lens encounters and order lenses from ABB or another supplier.
• Navigate insurance websites to assist patients with the available benefits and costs associated with their plan.
• Sell and create encounters for accessories.
• Learn the lensometer.
• Oversee Frame Inventory.

Competencies:

• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position based in Sarasota Florida.
• Full-time position with days and hours Monday through Friday, 830am – 530pm.
• Travel to other locations as necessary.

Education and Experience:

• A high school graduate or equivalent (required)
• Excellent communication and listening skills to properly address patient needs (required)
• Customer Service or service-related experience is a plus (required)
