Job summary

US Eye in Bluffton, SC is seeking an Optical Technician to join a high-end optical retail environment within a physician-led eye care network. The role blends retail and medical device familiarity; detail oriented, able to multi-task, and strong customer service are essential.

You will assist patients, take orders for contact lenses, learning the lensometer, navigate benefits and communicate patient needs to Opticians. We offer full-time hours, training, and a benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Listen and address patient needs according to company standards.
• Answer phones and relay patient needs to Opticians and Optical Technicians.
• Take orders for contact lenses and create encounters; order lenses from ABB or suppliers.
• Navigate insurance websites to explain benefits and costs to patients.
• Sell and create encounters for accessories.
• Learn and use the lensometer.
• Oversee frame inventory.
• Follow oral and written instructions; maintain confidentiality.
• Multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.

Essential Job Functions:

• Listen and address needs of patients as evidenced by company standards and policies.
• Answer the phones, and communicate patient's needs to the Opticians and Optical Technicians.
• Efficiently take orders for contact lenses, create contact lens encounters and order lenses from ABB or other supplier.
• Navigate insurance websites to assist patients with the available benefits and cost associated with their plan.
• Sell and create encounters for accessories.
• Learn the lensometer.
• Oversee Frame Inventory.
• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly in order to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position based in Bluffton, SC.
• Full-time position with days and hours Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm
• Travel to other locations as necessary. Lady's Island and Hilton Head

Education and Experience:

• A high school graduate or equivalent (required)
• Excellent communication and listening skills in order to properly address patient needs (required)
• Customer Service or service-related experience is a plus (required)
• US Eye will train the candidate and this would be a great entry level position to develop a career in Opticianry.
