Job summary

Spectra Tech, Inc. seeks a qualified inspector to provide staff augmentation for ORNL Welding Services. The role covers NDE/welding examinations, testing, and inspection of steam valves, pressure vessels, ladders, piping, and structures in shop and field settings.

The candidate will report to FIID Welding Services Program Manager; requires a strong welding background, ASNT/ASME/AWS credentials, and ability to produce isometric sketches. Fall protection training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education with at least five years in welding inspection and NDE of welds.
• Current AWS CWI certificate; ASNT SNT TC 1A Level II PT and VT qualifications.
• ASNT SNT TC 1A Level II MT yoke qualification preferred.
• Working knowledge of ASNT, ASME B31, AWS B2.1, AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, D9.1, and ASME boiler/pressure vessel codes.
• Ability to produce isometric sketches by hand or CAD.
• Fall protection training provided by ORNL.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDE/welding examinations, testing and inspection of valves, pressure vessels, ladders, piping, and structural assemblies.
• Inspect fabrication assemblies for repair work and new construction.
• Work in shop and field environments, solo or in teams.
