Job summary

Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, TX, seeks an experienced NDE Inspector to perform and oversee non-destructive testing across multiple large-scale fabrication projects, ensuring compliance with codes and certifications.

Candidates should hold Level II UT qualification per ASNT NAS-410, bring 10+ years of weld inspection experience, and be proficient with UT/MT/RT/PT; willingness to travel and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate degree in NDT or related field preferred.
• 10 years of structural weld inspection experience and NDT background required.
• ASNT SNT-TC-1A/NAS-410 Level II UT qualification currently met.
• Advanced NDT techniques (PA, TOFD) desirable.
• Familiarity with multiple industries such as power, vessels, pipelines, aerospace, ships.
• Proficiency in reading drawings, WPS, and technical docs; MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
• Effective communication; team and independent work; travel willingness.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed VT of structural welds per AWS/ASME/ABS codes.
• Identify weld defects to maintain quality and safety.
• Conduct UT, MT, RT, PT nondestructive testing.
• Ensure compliance with NDT codes and regulations.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports; collaborate with teams.
• Maintain and acquire qualifications for multiple methods.
