Job summary

MISTRAS Group, a leading nondestructive testing and inspection company, seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to verify welding bonds on customer sites in the United States. The role requires extensive knowledge of welding techniques, metals heating, and safety procedures, and involves crafting detailed inspection reports.

You will review welding specs, read fabrication drawings, perform welder qualifications and visual weld exams, and communicate findings to project managers and clients.

Qualifications

• AWS D1.1 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
• Experience inspecting to AWS D1.1 and ASME codes.
• Knowledge of welding symbols and ability to read fabrication drawings.
• Familiarity with NDT techniques and quality audits.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding inspections and craft detailed reports.
• Review specifications and read work orders.
• Inspect welding materials and verify compliance with drawings.
• Conduct welder qualification tests and visual weld exams.
• Communicate findings with Project Manager, shop personnel, clients and other inspectors to ensure compliance.
• Enforce safety policies and ensure safe welding practices.
